Inspiration Colors

By Kimberly | Filed in Uncategorized

My plan was to get my projects going a little faster, however I have focus issues! With Valentines coming up I have been working on craft ideas for party decorations for my daughter’s school party (I will post on that soon). I did manage to get some of my pillows done for my living room.  Here is a sneak peek!  The blue linen pillow is from Pottery Barn, the floral is Llyta Firecracker from Calico Corners, the geometric is Robert Allen from Joann’s  and the yellow is also from Joann’s. I was looking for fresh and bright colors and I think this mix works well.

My weekend!

By Kimberly | Filed in Uncategorized

About this time I start cleaning out the girls closets, and get things ready for new spring items. I know it is a little early but I get to excited with all the fun spring colors out there! Luckily it has been really warm this winter. In preparation for this I sat down and made about 20 hair bows for my two girls. I wanted to get ahead of the upcoming holidays and it’s just fun too! I love mixing the patterns and all the little cute buttons. I have two wonderful girls who let me do this for them!

Home Tour

By Kimberly | Filed in Uncategorized

Here is my home tour as promised! Ok, not really my entire home but it is the two rooms I have chosen to start with. I decided to start with these two because they are the rooms we use the most and they are going to be the biggest transformations.

We painted our living room a butter yellow to brighten up the space. Our original color made it feel dark and cave like.

Our breakfast nook needs a huge overhaul. It is builders bland. No color, bad lighting and the furniture doesn’t fit well in the small space. It doesn’t look dark just colorless.

I have been running around trying to find my inspiration colors and I am so excited to

show what I have found, but not yet! I hope you check back to see my inspiration!

New Year

By Kimberly | Filed in Uncategorized

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

We had a very blessed Christmas here at our house, and we hope all of you did as well.

As the holiday season comes to an end, so begins the dreaded resolution season.  DIETING!!!  EXERCISING!!!  ARGHHHHH!!  It seems those two are always on my list; however, this year I am going to add a completely different resolution to the list.  I vow to begin my actual home embellishment.  Since moving into our home 4 years ago I have lacked focus on completing each room.  The ultimate goal is a complete house uplift (my husband will take care of the outside), which is a mountain of a task. We have builders grade neutrals in our home and I have started with choosing brighter colors.

As many can relate just walking through your house and making a mental list of TO-DO’s is overwhelming, so overwhelming in fact that figuring out where and how to start becomes difficult.  This can be so overwhelming in fact, that you actual become counterproductive.  My strategy to kill my current Mundane Design Mess, is going to focus on one and only one room at a time.  This should help me stay focused, ease the budget hits, and it creates perfectly manageable smaller goals.

We fell in love with the homes of North Carolina while visiting this past spring, so that will be the inspiration. I love the colors, the architectural details and of course the beauty of their beaches. Each room transformation will be a great opportunity for organization.

I will post a small tour of my home in it’s current condition, kind-of blah and unfinished which doesn’t speak to my passion and love for decorating.

I hope you follow me this year on my journey and check back soon.  God bless and I look forward to hearing from each of you, ALL comments welcome.

Christmas Mantel

By Kimberly | Filed in Uncategorized

I have been really obsessing over the white reindeer and antlers I have been seeing everywhere but I don’t love the prices. Here is my twist of the white reindeer on my mantel. I purchased the gold paper mache reindeer at Micheal’s and spray painted them white. Then I added a pine cone branch and and hot glued it around his neck.

I think they turned out pretty cute but not a lot of money!

Merry and Bright

By Kimberly | Filed in Uncategorized

I just finished the final touches on my entryway for Christmas. I wanted it to be a little fun for my girls so I did a red and white snowflake theme.

I added large snowflakes bought at hobby lobby and large red ornaments to my tree and put it in a black urn for extra height.

I purchased the large gold resin letters at Hobby Lobby and covered them in sheet moss with spray adhesive.

It looks Very Merry and Bright!
